Ralf, it appears to have worked! Such license agreement may be a “break-the- seal” license agreement. Listening to music is a pretty painful experience that way. I was running windows xp and it was fine before windows 7.
I still experience a static sound whenever a short sound is to be played, like a click or ding, or other quick Windows sound. Windows was more than happy, after rebooting, to find the new hardware and download the AC97 software on its own. If so where did you get your driver?
